Abstract: Research on entrepreneurship ecosystem at home and abroad shows that the research on entrepreneurship from the perspective of ecology has sufficient theoretical and practical basis. At present, the related research of entrepreneurial ecosystem focuses on the components and operation mechanism, and generally lacks the tools and methods of empirical research, which is caused by the unclear definition of the basic unit of measurement. Based on the ecological theory and the new understanding of entrepreneurial activities, this paper constructs the concept of basic unit of entrepreneurial ecosystem evolution, systematically combs the main body of entrepreneurial ecosystem activities, and takes the elaboration of entrepreneurial ecosystem competition mechanism from the perspective of basic unit of evolution as an example to discuss the research significance of basic unit of evolution. Finally, the future research direction of evolution basic unit in the field of entrepreneurial ecosystem research is prospected.
