The Relationship between Higher Vocational Students' Academic Procrastination and Their Self-Control

Abstract: This study explores the relationship between higher vocational students' academic procrastination and their self-control. By using the General Procrastination Scale (PASS) and the Self-control Scale (SCS), three-year vocational college students from two local comprehensive vocational colleges were randomly selected by cluster, and 496 questionnaires were distributed and 472 valid questionnaires were recovered. The results show that the academic procrastination of higher vocational students is more serious than that of college student. Boys' academic procrastination is more serious than girls'. The academic delay of vocational college students with low self-control is more serious. Self-control ability of higher vocational college students is negatively correlated with academic procrastination, and three dimensions of self-control such as impulse control, abstemious entertainment and resisting temptation have a significant negative predictive effect on academic procrastination.
