Abstract: The establishment of the Ministry of Natural Resources in 2018 marks that China's urban and rural planning work has entered a period of comprehensive reform. During this period, national land spatial planning has become a combination of urban and rural planning, land use planning, ecological environmental protection planning, and main functional area planning new planning. In order to be able to adapt to the planning reform and the society's demand for planning talents, the urban master plan, which is an important part of urban and rural planning, must fully respond to the planning reform in the new period, and its curriculum must also respond to the teaching reform. This article believes that the urban master planning curriculum should be reformed in several aspects such as teaching objectives, curriculum knowledge system, teaching methods, and teaching effect evaluation, in order to better complete the important task of training talents for land and space planning in the new period.
