Abstract: The statistical data of higher education is the quantitative embodiment of the quality of a school and the basis of decision-making development and policy making. The statistical work of higher education is a basic work to promote the development of colleges and universities. However, there are some problems in the statistical work of many colleges and universities, such as incomplete understanding of statistics, outdated working mode, lack of systematic working ideas and methods. In the process of vigorously promoting the modernization of governance system and ability in colleges and universities, the statistical work of higher education must update the understanding idea, innovate the working mode, improve the working thought and method to serve the modernization of governance idea, system and practice in colleges and universities.
