Abstract: Since the "The Belt and Road" initiative was put forward, cooperation and exchanges between China and Central Asian countries have become increasingly frequent. As the core region of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang is an important gateway for China to open to the outside world in the new era. The rapid development of Xinjiang also brings new opportunities and challenges to the Russian teaching in colleges and universities in Xinjiang. Each university should actively respond to the national development strategy, establish a teachers group with the ability to study Central Asia, add more courses related to Central Asia, strengthen cultural and educational exchanges with Central Asian countries, and cultivate a large number of inter-disciplinary talents who are proficient in Russian, familiar with international rules and familiar with the cultures of Central Asian countries.
