Abstract: To address the common problem of traditional engineering teaching emphasizing theory over practice, and lacking in research and innovation, this article takes the fundamental course of thermal fluid science as an example to explore the reform of research-based teaching methods in engineering based on digital models. It proposes a teaching approach of“selecting objects, posing problems, constructing models, analyzing problems, and mastering knowledge”, relying on the domestically produced scientific computing and system modeling and simulation platform MWORKS to construct multi domain digital models and conduct simulation experiments; breaking through the limitations of traditional teaching in terms of practical conditions, class scheduling, and experimental resources, it promotes the deep integration of theoretical teaching and experimental teaching. Through two academic years of teaching practice, this model has effectively improved students'active learning ability, deep understanding ability, and research quality in multiple majors and classes, and has received high teaching evaluations from students. It provides a practical path for the teaching reform of engineering courses and has demonstration and promotion value.
