Research on the Teaching Reform of Innovation Ability of Graduate Students by Employing Advanced Design Philosophy

Abstract: The graduate courses in mechanical engineering are often confined to explanation and application of theoretical knowledge and neglect the cultivation of innovation ability. Design ability is the key indicator to measure the innovation level of graduate students. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce advanced design philosophy during course teaching in order to raise the innovation ability of graduate students. This paper elaborates the application of creative thinking process design, iterative thinking process design and optimal thinking process design in the reform of course content and in the transformation of teaching methods. The innovation ability of graduate students in mechanical engineering can be significantly impoved by employing the advanced design philosophy.
