Exploration and Practice of Cultivating English Majors in Local Applied Universities under the Background of New Liberal Arts

Abstract: As an important component of promoting local economic and social development, local applied universities play a crucial role in the new era of higher education system. Its mission is to cultivate high-quality talents for local areas and provide technological and intellectual support for regional economic and social development. With the acceleration of economic globalization, the demand for high-quality talents in society is constantly increasing. In the context of the new liberal arts, English majors in local universities are facing new opportunities and challenges. This article takes the English major of local universities as an example, starting from the connotation of the new liberal arts, based on the current research status of English major talent cultivation in local applied universities, and focusing on exploring the reform and practice of applied English major talent cultivation, aiming to provide useful reference for similar universities.
