Abstract: The purpose of volunteer service is to cultivate the empathy of college students. Through volunteer service, college students can put themselves in consideration of problems for others, thus improving the overall ideological and moral quality of college students. In universities, the role of volunteer service in the ideological leadership of college students can involve all aspects. First, through volunteer service, colleges and universities can strengthen the practical guidance for college students, thus improving the ideological and moral level of college students. Secondly, through volunteer service, college students can have more in-depth insights into many issues in society, and these insights can improve the efficiency of colleges and universities for ideological education. Third, through volunteer service, the personal value system of college students can be enriched, thus improving their own level of thinking. Finally, through volunteer service, college students can look at the problem from the perspective of bystanders and avoid the emergence of many idealism phenomena. Based on the above discussion, this paper will discuss the role of volunteer service in college students' ideological education.
