Abstract: The essence of application-oriented undergraduate colleges is to better cultivate application-oriented engineers needed by the country and local governments. In cultivation of application-oriented engineers, there are some difficulties and key problems related to practical application and theoretical learning. It is a new subject for application-oriented undergraduate colleges and universities to explore methods to solve these problems. In order to achieve the goal of cultivating the students' application ability and innovation ability, the mechanics research group has realized the transformation from the simple classroom teaching to taking into account the complete course including before teaching, during class and after class by connecting the teaching concept with teaching content, modern learning mode and modern engineering problems, relying on curriculum construction, textbook writing, with classroom learning, mechanical competition and CAE certification examination as the means.
