Abstract: Educational informatization is an important strategic plan in China. Micro-lesson is a novel form for online distance teaching, and one of the tools of online and offline hybrid teaching. In senior medical education, the abstract and complex characteristics bring challenges to the teaching of pediatric genetic disease. In order to explore whether micro-lesson can help students learn the course of pediatric genetic diseases and to collect their suggestions, we performed micro-lesson to assist the teaching of phenylketonuria course and conducted an online questionnaire survey among students. The results showed that the majority of students believe that micro-lesson is helpful for pre-class preview, in-class understanding, key and difficult learning, and after-class review. The students' response and willingness to use micro-lesson for pre-class preview is stronger than after-class review. The students' feedback suggested potential directions for continuous improvement of this new form of teaching. This study shows that the combination of online and offline teaching with micro-lesson can help improving the teaching quality of pediatric genetic disease courses.
