Abstract: By the support of “First-class Major (Geography)” in Guangxi province, the Natural Resources of Surveying & Mapping School of Nanning Normal University has designed and carried out the undergraduate tutorial movement. This movement intended to improve the innovation abilities and comprehensive qualities of undergraduates majoring in surveying & mapping geographic information. It learned the advanced experiences from other key universities, combined with the local student characteristics and the styles of education and research of the school. Here we explained the establishment of the undergraduate tutorial system, from the aspects of its connotation, tutor managements, incentive measures and implementation paths. Furthermore, we introduced the excellent achievements in the last three years after the implementation of the tutorial system. It motivates us to deepen the reform of the local university education, and fully integrate the resources of the Geography Department of our university to promote this tutorial system to more related majors. Such reform will strengthen the construction of tutor teams, as well as improve the overall student competitiveness in the major of surveying & mapping geographic information.
