Abstract: Against the backdrop of the country's vigorous promotion of“mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, universities have become the core base for cultivating innovative talents. As a frontline force in ideological and political education and daily management of college students, counselors no longer limit their role to traditional ideological and political educators and daily managers, but play a key role as guides, service providers, and enablers in innovation and entrepreneurship education. Based on the background of innovation and entrepreneurship, this article first analyzes the significance of enhancing the professional abilities of university counselors, then explores the current situation of the professional abilities of university counselors, and finally proposes improvement strategies, hoping to help universities build a comprehensive, full process, and all-round innovation and entrepreneurship education pattern, and cultivate more high-quality talents with innovative spirit and entrepreneurial ability for the country.
