Impact of Participation in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions on the Innovation Ability of University Students—Empirical Analysis Based on Average Treatment Effect

Abstract: The China Education Modernization 2035 proposes ten strategic tasks to promote education modernization, and the enhancement of first-class talent cultivation and innovation ability is one of the ten strategic tasks. In order to improve the innovation and entrepreneurial ability of university students, various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions have emerged. This paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods from the relationship between participation in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and the level of innovation ability of university students, collects data through questionnaires and uses the mean treatment effect model often used in policy evaluation to overcome the problem of heterogeneity between participating and non-participating groups, and empirically analyzes the real effect of participation in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions on the innovation ability of university students.
