Abstract: Under the background of the new era, the society has put forward higher requirements for the comprehensive quality and practical ability of talents. For the higher vocational colleges with the goal of cultivating high-quality compound talents, we must update the teaching concept, and carry out the teaching reform according to the important guide of the talent training work of "Chinese students' development core literacy". In view of the practical needs and professional adaptability of medical talents training, medical majors in higher vocational colleges should adopt targeted training strategies to effectively cultivate the core literacy of medical students. Therefore, this paper mainly analyzes the important value of cultivating medical students' core literacy, combined with the overall framework of core literacy, expounds the specific connotation of the core literacy that higher vocational medical students should have, and on this basis, discusses the specific strategies of effectively developing medical students' core literacy in higher vocational colleges, aiming to provide reference for relevant research.
