Abstract: The rapid development of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, virtual simulation, and big data, has brought about the need for constant updates and a focus on original technological innovation and interdisciplinary integration in the field of urban underground space engineering. In the face of a changing landscape, the traditional talent training mod is no longer able to adapt to the new challenges faced by the utilization of urban underground space. Consequently, a problem-oriented talent cultivation model that emphasizes the resolution of complex engineering problems has become an urgent priority. This paper elucidates the significance of a problem-oriented training model that focuses on solving complex engineering issues. It explores a problem-oriented teaching approach aimed at cultivating students'interdisciplinary and comprehensive abilities to address intricate engineering challenges, to meet the demands and tackle the challenges of future urban underground space engineering development.
