Abstract: Under the background of“four new”construction in the new era, local universities are facing new development opportunities and challenges. With the rapid development of technology and profound adjustment of industrial structure, innovation and entrepreneurship ability has become an important indicator for measuring the quality of higher education and social contribution. Therefore, exploring the path of cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities in local universities under the background of the“four new”is not only a necessary requirement to respond to the national innovation driven development strategy, but also a practical need to enhance the core competitiveness of universities and serve local economic and social development. This article aims to analyze the problems and deficiencies in innovation and entrepreneurship education in local universities, and propose a series of practical and feasible suggestions based on the core concept of“four new”construction, in order to provide reference and inspiration for the reform and development of innovation and entrepreneurship education in local universities.
