Abstract: This paper takes the industrial design major of Baoji University of Arts and Sciences in Shaanxi Province as an example. By analyzing the current situation of teachers and talent training of industrial design major, based on the demand of industrial design industry in western China, based on serving the economic development of Shaanxi radiating surrounding areas, according to the new engineering background,this paper puts forward the thought for the new engineering industrial design specialty in local universities from four aspects: the goal setting of talent training, the construction of curriculum group, the improvement of teachers' teaching and scientific research ability and the training of students' innovation and entrepreneurship ability.
